On March 13, participants met at Georgetown University for a synodal gathering organized by the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life. Associate editor Regina Munch was one of the participants in the invitation-only event, which brought together thirty Catholic leaders, both lay and religious, to put synodality and synodal conversation into practice.

National Catholic Reporter’s Chris White, a participant at the gathering, described the event as a “synodal laboratory” modeled on the Vatican’s synodal hall. Participants used the “Conversations in the Spirit” method to discuss women’s and lay leadership in the Church as well as the Church’s social mission.

Kim Daniels, director of the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life, said that the event was a way to bring synodality home—it’s “something that doesn’t start at the Vatican but grows from the ground up.”
