Something light for the last week of summer: What was the last book you read that you couldn't put down before finishing it? Or great examples of the experience in your life.?I vividly remember the experience with William Golding's Lord of the Flies. I couldn't turn the last thirty or forty pages fast enough. More recently, Ian McEwan's Atonement came close. The only work of theology that met the test was Karl Rahner's The Shape of the Church to Come, which kept me up late into the night. (Now, of course, when I try to read in bed, I don't get very far before the head nods and the book slips from my hands. The spirit is willing, but the flesh....)
