I spent last weekend at Georgetown's Woodstock Forum "Ageless Grace," on the role of women's leadership in the world and in the church.Ambassador Melanne Verveer and I were the keynote speakers. The respondents were Sr. Kathleen Dolphin and Sr. Mary Bourdon--who founded the Washington School for Girls in Anacostia. When I got home, I googled the school--and, well, this picture and story speaks for itself. She is, incidentally, a Religious of Jesus and Mary--and from Rhode Island. Her order taught my mother (St. Claire's in Woonsocket) and very briefly, me (before the parochial school closed-I don't think I personally ran them out!).
