The popular late-night comedy show, The Colbert Report, is on vacation this week, but the folks at colbertnation.com have offered us five new compilations online: highlight reels of some of Stephen Colbert's satire and comedy on religion. Covered topics are Christianity / Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Scientology (not a large religion, but the jokes come easy).[caption id="attachment_20720" align="alignright" width="273" caption="by Tim Luecke, Fordham senior -- HIRE HIM!"][/caption]It's hard not to conclude that Colbert and his staff were prepping for "The Cardinal and Colbert: Humor, Joy, and the Spiritual Life," which is moderated by James Martin, S.J., tonight at Fordham (resource page with links and readings here). Although there is a media blackout on the event, which is at heart a Mission & Ministry event geared toward our students, we can't really control the 2,988 smart phones that will be in the room. For now, though, you might enjoy these highlight reels from the past few years. Some of the jokes presume you're a regular watcher of the show, but then again, why aren't you?
